When a major distiller opens in Kentucky in 2021, it will rely on steam generated by two Precision Boilers for its whiskey distillation. Besides just providing packaged boilers, deaerator, blowdown separator, and fully custom PLCs, Precision was required to supply a more turnkey solution. IDI was engaged to design the entire system layout, which included the platforms and stairs around the system. Precision provided the process, components, and customer specifications, and IDI handled the related mechanical, structural, and piping design, which included analyzing the pipe system to calculate the pipe stresses and nozzle loads and to ensure the optimal load profile in order to reduce the capital and operating costs of the boilers.
